Guided Autobiography (GAB) Legacy Circles

Senior therapist Cindy incorporates Narrative Therapy, Guided Autobiographical Writing (GAB) and the Carl Rogers Encounter Group approach in a psychological well-being programme called GAB Legacy Circles. Within a multigenerational group of participants, including individuals from emerging adults to seniors, members support one another in sharing, assembling and documenting their ‘spiritual’ self (or ‘evolving’ self) through the sharing of life experiences and stories, unique to their culture and time, in a personal expressive life writing. The programme aims to increase intergenerational social interaction and psychological well-being by transforming perspectives on life stories revisited/reviewed through transformative group work.

Persons who enjoy creative writing, storytelling and appreciate structured support in assembling and organising their memories early on before some memories are forgotten will enjoy this group programme. Other compelling reasons to join include creating a family memoir for self-publishing or wishing to participate in a group setting (instead of an individual therapy session) to write up one’s autobiographical identity to be a better carer and optimise one’s potential.

Mini-topics (including individual and family life skills, ageing and human development) are integrated into each group session. Please find out more about the programme which is in its fifth year running here
