Hi Everyone,

Thank you for stopping by!

For those who are new here, my name is Cindy, also known as ‘Red Dot Mum’. I started a blog in 2012 to create a generativity blog for my children, sharing family and life skills I picked up while raising a home and family.

There have been some recent changes, and I want to update everyone.

Life Work: When I began my life story, it was just a generativity blog. Life has mushroomed a lot since then. Now I run an independent practice, Red Dot Mum Wellness. a psychosocial educational service which runs narrative programs to improve mental wellness and support healthy ageing. As a psychosocial educator, I create educational programs to help people understand and manage psychological and social challenges. I run life writing circles called Heritage Care Communities where participants engage in narrative group work to increase autobiographical self-awareness. This is a way to enhance well-being. Additionally, I offer one-on-one Life Skills facilitation for neurodivergent individuals, to empower in creating directional goals and improving functional living.

Home Matters: Spring cleaning isn’t just for spring! Our shared spaces, whether at home or in the office, affect everyone. The items we own impact our physical and mental space. It’s important to regularly assess what we have, keeping what we love and letting go of what we don’t need.

In Singapore, September feels like a new ‘season’, a perfect time to declutter. This includes digital files, handwritten notes, and books. Organizing these can help manage the overwhelming quest for knowledge.

Family Education Matters: I’ve enjoyed participating in interviews and online presentations, contributing to open cultural resources. One such project is “An Experts’ Insight on Maternal Parenting Stress,” part of the “Advice from the Field: Creating Open Resources in Relationship Science” by the University of British Columbia. It was a rewarding experience, even conducted online during Covid. I’m proud to contribute to Family Science and psychological education.

Other Updates: As the author of Red Dot Mum, I aim to update the landing page like an autobiography. Life stories evolve as we grow, and I’ll share more snippets here. Autobiographical updates will be continually moved to “Blog” on the website.

Feel free to browse around the site. The blog is free, and I will share more.

It’s been a great journey so far, and I hope to build a caring and purposeful community together.

Warm regards,

Cindy (Red Dot Mum)

Cindy shares a quote:

Stories are about problems. First one states perspectives, the preoccupation; the second one intensifies it and it is worse; the third one is the solution and the way they see it going forward.
