Writing for Wellness and Legacy
Join Red Dot Mum Wellness’s transformative well-being program, facilitated by Cindy (group facilitator), where expressive writing meets therapeutic group work.
Purpose: To provide a private, narrative writing group for all ages, focusing on legacy (‘narrative practices’), to enhance self-awareness (‘reconstruction of self’) and to improve psychological well-being.
Objective: To facilitate Life Writing sessions that promote mental health and overall well-being.
Mission: As a psychosocial educator and mental health counsellor, Cindy coordinates and facilitates Life Writing Therapeutic Group Work, a group work circle dedicated to Reminiscence, Life Review, and Narrative Therapy.
Participants will experience:
- Guided Autobiographical Writing (GAB): Developed by Dr. James Birren over the past 40 years, GAB helps people document their life stories. Participants explore their unique life experiences through expressive writing, focusing on important life events such as family, career/money, health, gender identity, death and dying, spiritual life and values and goals and aspirations.
- Narrative Therapy: Participants uncover their evolving selves within a supportive circle of equals. Narrative therapy allows for reflection, understanding, and personal growth.
- Carl Rogers Encounter Group Approach: This person-centred evidence-based approach encourages sharing and documenting spiritual journeys. It fosters connection and self-awareness.
- Confidential Circles: These circles provide a safe space for intergenerational well-being, respecting privacy and comfort.
- 📚 Themes & Mini-Lessons: Dive into life skills, ageing, and creative lessons related to human development.
Outcome: Participants experience increased self-awareness and enhanced well-being. Optional pre and post-course surveys measure aspects like ‘self-identity reconstruction’ and ‘psychological well-being’.
