Steamed Salmon With Tofu And Egg Recipe
(adapted from ‘No More Failed Recipes’ cookbook published by GIPH Media Pte Ltd)
(Serves 4)

Ingredients
300g salmon (one can always substitute with other fish fillet)
2 boxes of silken tofu
2 eggs
some chopped spring onion (optional – I used up some *leftover frozen ones)

Seasonings A
2 pinches of salt
1/2 tbsp potato starch (or cornflour)
2 dashes of white pepper
2 dashes of sesame oil

Seasonings B
2 tsps of fish sauce

Method

  1. Cut salmon and tofu into dices. Beat egg.
  2. Combine well salmon, tofu, egg and Seasonings A in a steaming dish ; cover with cling wrap.
  3. Bring water in the steamer to a boil. Steam fish and tofu mixture over high heat for about 10 minutes (or until cooked). Remove.
  4. Drizzle over fish sauce and scatter chopped spring onions on top to serve.

Cost of dish (minus cost of seasonings)per serving:

350g of toman fish fillet (2 pkts) – $6.88
2 boxes of silken tofu – $1.45
2 medium eggs – $0.20×2 – $0.40
Total : $8.73/4 = $2.18
